Many Argentinean people consider that Astor Piazzolla felt that the form of the modern tango was the outcome of a continual process of change, whilst he nevertheless remained faithful to the spirit of the music written by the “old stagers”. In 1985 the city of Buenos Aires awarded Astor Piazzolla a medal for all his musical works and made him a Freeman of the city. He died on the 4th July 1992.
